This Kenrick Excalibur multipoint door lock features 2 Hooks & 1 Latch.
Identifying a Kenrick Excalibur multipoint door lock can be tricky as there are a number of other manufacturers with very similar gearboxes. If your lock is still in the door, it'll likely have the brand stamped on the faceplate. Some models also have the Secured By Design logo stamped on the faceplate too. You can double check by looking for a small black snib below the latch. Other manufacturers, such as ERA and Ingenious, also feature a holdback snib on the latch, so the snib isn't a guarantee. All Kenrick Excalibur multipoint locks feature a central hook that throws upward, rather than a deadbolt.
We'd always recommend removing the multipoint from the door to help identify it. This is especially important if you can't identify the brand from the faceplate or it has been rebranded.
Kenrick Excalibur gearboxes are available with either a single or double spindle (follower) gearbox. They will have centres at either 92mm or 62mm and 92mm. Both followers are sprung so you have the option of using sprung or unsprung door handles.
The overall height is 225mm and they are fixed to the faceplate with 3 screw holes.
Kenrick Excalibur gearboxes have a hole above the top spindle, 21mm from the top of the case that can be used for bolt through handle fixings. The top spindle is 128mm from the bottom of the gearbox, to assist when identifying suitable handles.
When measuring the backset, allow 2-3mm for the faceplate, so a 35mm backset gearbox will measure 32mm when not fixed to the strip.
Kenrick Excalibur multipoint door gearboxes feature a small, plastic snib on the faceplate. This can be used to hold the latch back for convenience and to prevent accidental lock outs.
Kenrick Excalibur gearboxes do bear a resemblance to the Fullex XL series and Ingenious gearboxes. However, both Ingenious and Fullex XL multipoint gearboxes are 230mm, so 5mm larger than a Kenrick Excalibur.
Kenrick Excalibur hooks are made from sintered steel for additional attack resistance.
The main gearbox features a hook which throws upward. The outer hooks are bi directional and throw toward the main gearbox to hold the door in place. Outer hooks also feature steel anti lift bolts for additional security.
